Membership Development Manager

UKAI is the UK’s national trade association for artificial intelligence, uniting a diverse and fast-growing membership committed to shaping how AI is adopted, deployed, and governed across the economy. Our members range from innovative start-ups and global enterprises to consultancies, public sector bodies, and non-technical organisations adopting AI to transform performance and delivery.

We provide a national platform for strategic engagement between business, government and academia, supporting responsible AI adoption through working groups, member-led events, training programmes and high-profile showcases. UKAI exists to ensure the UK leads in the ethical, commercial and societal implementation of AI, backed by the right infrastructure, skills and regulation.

This role manages the full sales cycle across membership, training, and sponsorship, driving UKAI’s commercial growth and engagement strategy. You will work directly with senior stakeholders, helping organisations connect, collaborate, and lead within the UK’s rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Lead generation and business development
  • Proactively generate leads across UKAI’s core commercial offers, with a focus on membership and training.

  • Use a mix of outreach methods including LinkedIn, direct email, CRM segmentation, referrals and event-based engagement.

  • Qualify, engage and progress prospects through the pipeline in line with agreed commercial priorities.

  • Work closely with marketing to design and execute targeted outreach campaigns.

Sales execution
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through to close, onboarding and renewals.

  • Understand prospective member needs and match them to UKAI’s offer, including training, events, working groups, and strategic visibility opportunities.

  • Meet and exceed agreed monthly and quarterly revenue targets.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop proposals, pricing models, and membership packages aligned with client needs.

CRM and sales operations
  • Build and nurture senior relationships across tech, public sector, and regulated industries.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM, including contact history, opportunity stage and pipeline movement.

  • Generate regular sales reports, pipeline forecasts, and actionable insight to inform commercial planning.

  • Ensure all communications with prospects and members are timely, personalised and fully logged to support internal coordination.

  • Support continuous improvement of CRM processes to ensure data accuracy and commercial visibility.

Client engagement and growth
  • Build and maintain relationships with members and training clients to support long-term satisfaction, retention and advocacy.

  • Support the CEO in developing tailored onboarding and engagement plans that align with each member’s objectives.

  • Identify opportunities to introduce sponsorship, co-authored content, curated introductions, and other strategic visibility routes as part of broader member engagement.

Collaboration and event support
  • Attend UKAI events as a relationship lead, representing the association and engaging with prospective and current members.

  • Work closely with the marketing and operations to support outreach campaigns, lead conversion and post-event follow-up.

  • Support the recruitment of participants for training programmes and help coordinate member involvement in key showcase opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in membership, training, or B2B sales roles involving senior stakeholder engagement.

  • Experience in the technology, professional services, or policy sectors is advantageous.

  • Proven success managing a full sales cycle and converting leads into revenue.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience engaging C-suite and senior public-sector stakeholders.

  • Strong commercial acumen with a collaborative approach to achieving shared targets.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-trust environment with autonomy and accountability.

  • Strong CRM experience and attention to detail.

  • Evidence of hitting or exceeding revenue quotas.
