As organisations explore the transformative potential of AI, cybersecurity remains one of the biggest concerns, often slowing adoption.

In this webinar, hosted in partnership with LASR, we will hear from Isobel Thornton from the Alan Turing Institute and Dr Louise Axon from the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC) at the University of Oxford, to examine the evolving relationship between AI and cybersecurity, and to explore how organisations can adopt AI with confidence.

The discussion will approach the topic from three complementary angles:

  1. Securing AI adoption: How organisations can protect AI systems once adopted, manage data and model risks, and align with emerging guidance such as the DSIT AI Cybersecurity Code of Practice.
  2. AI as a tool for cybersecurity: How AI can be used to enhance cyber defence, detection, and resilience, particularly for organisations with limited in-house expertise.
  3. The malicious use of AI: Understanding how AI is being exploited by threat actors, and what this means for risk management, governance, and organisational readiness.

The discussion will also examine which opportunities organisations are consciously choosing not to pursue because of these concerns, and what this reveals about the barriers to wider, more confident adoption. The webinar will also explore workforce education and skills, examining what employees need to know to use AI safely and responsibly, and where current capability gaps lie.

Finally, the session will look at what helps mitigate these challenges, including governance frameworks, technical controls, education, and shared learning. We will also examine the role of Government agencies, universities and industry in setting out standards and best practices.

This webinar is designed to provide clarity, reassurance, and practical insight for leaders, security professionals, and policymakers seeking to balance innovation with security in the age of AI.
