Accelerating AI Delivery in Government - Moving Fast and Safely

UKAI is convening a closed-door roundtable for senior leaders across UK government responsible for AI policy, digital transformation and service delivery.

This session will focus on one of the most pressing challenges facing public sector organisations today: how to accelerate the adoption of AI while maintaining trust, accountability and appropriate governance.

As organisations move beyond pilots and proofs of concept, the emphasis is shifting towards deployment at scale; delivering measurable outcomes while ensuring systems remain safe, ethical and reliable.

This roundtable will provide a trusted forum for candid discussion under Chatham House Rules, enabling participants to share practical experience, compare approaches and explore how governance can actively enable faster delivery rather than slowing it down.

Discussion Themes

  • What is required to accelerate AI adoption across public services?
  • What forms of governance enable delivery rather than constrain it?
  • How can organisations implement minimum viable guardrails?
  • What can be learned from international and cross-sector examples?
  • How should responsibilities be balanced between central leadership and departments?
  • How do we build confidence among ministers, boards and the public?

Please note: This is a strictly invite-only roundtable. While expressions of interest may be submitted, all registrations are subject to review, and attendance will be confirmed at UKAI’s discretion to ensure a balanced and high-value discussion among participants.
