Nominated by Charlotte O'Brien Gore, Basecamp Research
Basecamp Research is a London AI company that collects genetic data from nature through benefit-sharing partnerships in more than 30 countries. It uses this data to train AI models that design new medicines, including antibiotics to tackle drug-resistant infections.
Partners such as the Malawi University of Science and Technology and Cameroon's University of Buea receive labs they own, training, ongoing fees and co-authorship of research. Since 2022 Basecamp has paid more than $3.9 million to partners, set up 17 partner labs in nine countries and trained 123 scientists.
Judges' analysis
The judges saw Basecamp as a model of fair, two-way partnership with the Global South, with locally owned equipment, skills and shared credit, and the most fully evidenced entry in the category.
DeepInfinity
Nominated by Rama Boya and Prasanthi Enuga, DeepInfinity
DeepInfinity is a UK-headquartered health AI company building AI assistants for clinical notes, radiology reports and patient record summaries, developed and deployed through a UK and India partnership. Its platform has been used for more than 15 months in three high-volume government hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and is deployed across five Indian states.
Its multilingual medical speech technology handles many Indian languages and accents, and deployments have cut manual typing by up to 80%. In the UK its clinical scribe product carries UKCA medical device marking, and the company takes part in NHS-linked accelerator programmes.
Judges' analysis
The judges recognised a genuine two-way partnership that builds capability in Indian public and private hospitals while bringing the learning back to the UK.
EVE.CALLS
Nominated by Angela Stathi, Office for Investment
EVE.CALLS is a Ukrainian-founded voice AI business that made Britain its base in 2026, supported by the Global Entrepreneur Programme and the UK-Ukraine TechBridge accelerator. Its voice agent calls customers of a state-owned bank in Ukraine about loan repayments, following the bank's own approved rules.
Over the past year it placed more than 16,000 calls for the bank, resolved 84% of conversations on its own and passed people in financial hardship to bank staff. The bank moved from a pilot to a full contract in June 2026.
Judges' analysis
The judges were impressed by precise, audited results and a respectful, rules-based approach to a sensitive task, linking the UK with a key partner country.
