AI, Energy and Infrastructure - Building a Green AI Superpower

The UK has a clear opportunity to lead the next phase of global artificial intelligence by becoming the world’s foremost hub for Green AI: AI that is efficient, affordable, deployable at scale, and aligned with long-term economic and environmental sustainability.

UKAI has been leading national discussions on the growing interdependence between AI, energy and infrastructure through a series of parliamentary roundtables with MPs, Peers, civil servants and industry leaders. These sessions, focused on Energy & AI and Infrastructure & AI, explored how the rapid scale-up of AI is reshaping demand for power, planning, skills, investment and critical national infrastructure. Amongst the many opportunities, the UK is already pioneering the development of a sustainable and responsible AI industry. Could the UK lead the world in developing ‘Green AI’?

UKAI has consolidated these insights into a new policy and industry report, drawing on the perspectives of government, utilities, infrastructure providers, local authorities and technology leaders. The report sets out practical recommendations to ensure the UK can scale AI sustainably, securely and competitively.
